AMP first became known for its outstanding summer program, AMP Summer Camp which features the Valley's top musicians teaching, in small rock band format, Coachella Valley's young musicians in their performance and concert production skills through rehearsals, workshops, individual instruction, and live performances. Due to high demand, AMP added an after-school program in 2016, AMP Fall & AMP Spring, to continue the rock band education and experience throughout the school year.
The AMP Instrument Zoo is set up at community events to give people (young and old) the opportunity to play an instrument for the first time. Current and former AMP students and instructors are on-site to show people the basics of playing the ukulele, guitar, piano, autoharp, glockenspiel, hand drums, and many more!
Rockin’ On is a business development program for AMP bands that uses music as the vehicle for teaching entrepreneurship. The program aims to give our students a pathway to success by teaching them how to navigate, on their own, the basics of a career in music.
preAMP is programming designed to introduce elementary-aged students to music through the use of the ukulele. preAMP holds a three-day summer music camp for 3rd-5th graders with little to no musical experience, as well as partnering with Desert Recreation District to offer programming within their camps. In this fun day camp, future AMP students learn how to sing and play music in a group.
