Academy of Musical Performance (AMP)
est. 2015

AMP has no major donor. All of our program fees are funded through grants, donations from the community and tuition (which is a fraction of the actual cost and many families request donation assistance).

AMP is a non-profit organization offering contemporary music education programs to the youth of the Coachella Valley — regardless of a family's ability to pay. We've seen how the act of making music with a group of people offers lifelong benefits that develop a child's mental health and interpersonal skills, while simultaneously empowering them to embark upon a musical pathway of play and learning that they can chase for the rest of their lives. Up to 75% of our students participate in our programs through some form of Tuition Assistance.

AMP offers group performance programs to youth such as AMP Fall + Spring, AMP Summer, and preAMP. We also offer one-on-one Private Instruction, and community programs such as our Instrument Zoo.

Help support a child through our program by making a donation today, or becoming an AMP Angel by donating on a monthly basis.

Donate to AMP in honor of Legendary Guitarist, Bill Pitman

Jan Pitman selected AMP as a recipient of donations in honor of her late husband, legendary guitarist Bill Pitman

Bill Pitman, a guitarist whose work as part of the legendary recording session group The Wrecking Crew made an invaluable contribution to countless radio hits, TV series and films, died August 11, 2022 at his home in La Quinta, CA. He was 102.

"Bill attributed his musical ability first to his talent inherited from his parents, and then to having had great teachers as he was growing up. Bill would be very proud to know that people who knew and loved him are choosing to contribute money to The Academy of Musical Performance in memory of him.  It would be a bonus for him to know that The AMP provides their services of providing instruments, lessons, performance opportunities, recording experience, and more while charging the families of the children only what they can afford.  AMP is giving musically talented children the opportunity to succeed in achieving their dreams of becoming musicians or working in the music industry.  They will be able to work and be happy and fulfilled!  Bill would be so happy and proud to be part of this!" ~Jan Pitman
