Talia Lowell
UKULELE Instructor
Talia Lowell has a passion for music that is undeniable. She started singing at a young age and participated in an all-girls choir for many years. The choir was accompanied by ukulele, and this inspired her to start playing the instrument for herself. So, at age 9 she joined the Ukulele Band at King Kamehameha III Elementary School in Lahaina, Hawaii. In the years that followed she continued to broaden her understanding through personal study and classical guitar lessons and eventually chose the Baritone Ukulele to be her main instrument.
Talia has performed in multiple school performances, many community events, local jam sessions, and even at the famous Aloha Theater on the big island of Hawaii. She has studied voice, ukulele, music theory, song writing, and dance from private instructors and continues to take private music lessons to this day. She has experience teaching private ukulele lessons and is currently involved with ensemble ukulele lessons as an assistant to the world-famous Jeanie Cunningham. Talia looks forward to sharing her love of music, teaching and learning from her students, expanding her musical understanding, and bringing joy to those around her through the beautiful language of music.

Additional Instructors
Armando Flores
Band Coach / Instructor
Armando Flores has been performing locally, regionally, and sometimes internationally since 1991. Introduced to the bass guitar just after high school, Armando instantly was bit by the bug and music has been a driving force since. Specializing in the bass, Armando also is a gigging drummer and has been known to play rhythm guitar when needed. While he does not have a degree, he does have a semi-formal education in music, as well as 34 years of playing and performing experience. Introduced to the AMP program at the urging of a friend, he began teaching in the summer of 2022, working with students from 5th grade on up. The teaching philosophy he employs includes learning the basics of music theory and providing useful and practical applications of that theory to any and all musical endeavors. The belief is that talent is useful, but the addition of some theoretical knowledge can only make you a better musician.
“Musically, my biggest strengths and favorite genres are rooted in rock. But I love, funk, disco, hip-hop, alternative… you name it. I’m proud that I’m able to go from a coffee-shop gig to a punk rock show and deliver to both on any given night. For many of us, music is an escape and should allow us to ‘get away’ while we perform. My hope is that my students have a better appreciation for music after a lesson and have fun doing it. Fun is the most important part. After all, we say ‘let’s go play some music’ not, ‘work some music’ .”
Armando loves his kids, his cats, and still plays in local acts and is available for recording projects of any type.
